4 years overdue, but one of my favorite memories from Seattle was Lola by the renowned James Beard award winner Tom Douglas, showcasing mainly Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. This was back when I wasn’t super heavy into food yet, so I didn’t know who he was, or the famous coconut cream pie that I missed out on.
They had a line so we were asked to wait in the attached hotel lobby next door
Eggs benedict: bavarian meats ham, dill hollandaise
This was before I took tasting notes, but from what I remembered this was perfectly delicious, especially the side of Smashed garlic fried potatoes 🔥🔥🔥; crisp and tender with the perfect amount of oil and imbued with garlic in every forkful. The hollandaise was great, thick and flavorful, tying together the toasted english muffin, the salty, meaty ham and the perfectly poached egg; substantial, comforting but not heavy, a perfect American breakfast.
